Las Vegas

Any suggestions as to what to do in Las Vegas????

As I learned from the recent Wallpaper "Las Vegas continues to evolve from the mecca of kitsch to the capital of cool", which is of course, why we're going there! :)

MGM Mirage bar

The MGM Mirage bar just won a prize for being the best new bar, so that's a thing to do for sure.

But we need to fill 4 days with a lot of fun things to do, so I'm curious to hear all of your crazy ideas for the best time in Las Vegas...

Big Change

Yesterday I realized that the last time I felt there was so much change going on in my life was 2001.

In the last days I kind of feel the same again. Feels strange and great at the same time. So many new opportunities and so much travel coming up in the next weeks again.

I'm really looking forward to all of it! I'm really happy to move on from my old job and start something new again.

Kansas at it's best

So everybody laughes at me, when I tell them I just went to Nashville and Kansas. Coming from New York that might be strange, but I'll never forget the sun, the wind, the smell of grass and earth and this feeling of great openness when you're standing there and look at the tall grass...

Tall Grass Prairie

So much open space, it's so peaceful and quiet, time to focus on a nice conversation or just watching the beautiful nature there. Makes me happy and lets me forget all the stuff I usually think about on a busy New York day.

Old Schoolhouse

Along the way we see this sign for a local rodeo and with a smile in my face I think I just travelled back in time to 1960:

Rodeo

Sitting in one car with some good friends, it feels ok not to talk, but just watch, take pictures and enjoy the day. Perfect!

Barbecue

You know you're in the heart of Kansas, when you're having a barbecue every single day. You can have it as a late night welcome dinner, brunch or just a "snack" in the afternoon. But you'll always have the best barbecue sauce you can imagine having!

Arthur Bryan'ts

I understand the smile in Jim's face now, whenever he talks about a barbecue in Kansas!

Music City USA

Why is it, that so many people laughed at me and told me I'm crazy because I'm going to Nashville Tennessee for a weekend? All about Nashville was fun, music, laid back people, sunshine, music, music, music, music,....

Some of the best live guitarr music I've heard so far! Saw great songwriters, and just loved it!

I actually learnt a lot about country music. I had no clue that a lot of the songs I know have been remakes from old country songs. I enjoyed sitting in a bar with a beer and live music at any time of the day, ate Hashbrowns whenever I could get them, met some pretty nice musicians (even got a free demo CD!), learnt that all you can get at the Jack Daniels Distillery on a Sunday is a smell - but no drink! Funny, they're in a dry county, they had to change the law some years back to be allowed to sell sealed bottles on their facilities (all days of the week but Sundays), but you can't actually get a taste ever! To make up for that we got some whiskey-raising icecream in historic Lynchburg Tennessee...

I had a great time! Why is everyone laughing about Nashville??? I would totally go back anytime for another fun and relaxing weekend!

Nashville Tennesee

The first thing I just had to do here was ordering a double order of Hashbrowns with onions at the first WAFFFLEHOUSE I could find. Same thing for breakfast of course!

It's pouring raining, so all we can do is go to the Country Music Hall of Fame and then have beer in the country bars and listen to live music! :):):)

Nashville feels so small. And yet it's a lot bigger than most of the other places I've lived in so far...

$100.000 in New York

On a really rainy day in New York, after getting in touch with Mazzy for the fourth day without success, judging at the Moth for "Nerds and Geeks" I overheard a conversation between three German guys and a girl at 59th Columbus Circle station. "No way, you can't live in New York with $100.000 a year!" "You can't even pay rent with that, you need at least $500.000, otherwise you won't have a life here!" The only reasonable one of them was, "I can live in NY with $100K and have more fun than in Frankfurt!" (He's soooo right! Who wants to be in Frankfurt when you can be in NY???) I was sooooooooo close to breaking out laughing. I thought for a moment I should tell them, that the uptown D train doesn't stop at 86th Street, but it made it all the more fun to just let them take it...
